Heidi Monroe, LICSW, SEP

I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (RI license-ISW02249, MA license 124195, NY license 101495) and have experience providing supportive counseling and psychotherapy to individuals, couples, and families. I am a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP) which is a trauma treatment focused on client's body sensations to relieve post-traumatic stress disorder PTSD. I am also trained in Attachment Focused EMDR through the Parnell Institute. EMDR and SE work well to treat complex PTSD. I am a member of the NASW (National Association of Social Workers).  My 18 years of experience in the mental health field includes working as medical social worker at The Miriam Hospital, working with individuals with a severe and persistent mental illness, interning in an elementary school and a domestic violence agency.  I also worked as a group facilitator in a partial hospitalization program.  I  earned my BS at Roger Williams University in Social & Health Services and my MSW at Rhode Island College.  I use a solution focused, strengths based approach in all of my therapy sessions and am passionate about the work I do.  I truly believe it is an honor to witness the healing work of each one of my clients.
